Petz,

If the channels (disti's, etc.) place orders, Intel is going to ship them. Jeez, any company would do the same. To equate this to "Efforts by Intel to push sales to motherboard makers and channel distributors amid sluggish demand in the second quarter" is simply Amdrodian fantasy.

Now, if the channels overshot their demand forecasts, that is their problem. It will all work out in the fullness of time. Bottom line, your scenario is hinged on your assumption that Intel is supply-limited on chipsets, thus your assertion that Intel couldn't be building market share if all their chipsets are tied up in the channels.

This is simply not true. Intel has been studiously building capacity all during the downturn. They are in a position to fulfill all the channels' orders (even if they mis-forecasted to the high side) while still having ample supply to fuel their own motherboard tour de force.

Hence, the error in your logic.
