Kerry is terrified of his stance on slaughtering unborn children....

cnn.com;

I've noticed that the quality of your reading comprehension and assessment deteriorate as the day gets long. To what do you attribute this fall off?

Steve, Kerry is just miffed that Bush would even consider going after the Catholic vote. I think Kerry feels entitled to that vote, even though some of his social positions go directly against the Vatican, which of course Kerry explains away with the old "separation of church and state" argument.

BTW, it's obvious that Kerry's buttons are being pushed. Or to paraphrase your buddy Yousef, Bush is touching Kerry's "sensitive spots." ;-) This is a major reason why I think Bush will win debates vs. Kerry (#reply-20223790), and why I think Bush will win in November to the amazement of many liberals.

How does the Vatican feel about this?

<<< ... Pope John Paul II has declared the Church's near total opposition to the death penalty. Today, however, as a result of steady improvement in the organization of the penal system, such cases are very rare, if not practically nonexistent." ... >>>

Vatican reasserts opposition to war in Iraq

The Vatican renewed its opposition to war in Iraq on Wednesday, saying military action would only make matters worse and that a pre-emptive strike raised serious ethical and legal problems.

"It's unilateralism, pure and simple," the Vatican's UN observer, Archbishop Renato Martino, said in comments published in the Italian newsweekly Famiglia Christiana.

The principle of a "first strike" as well as its possible use in Iraq "provoke profound reservations be it from the ethical or legal point of view," he said.
