If you don't think politicians contemplating a presidential
run don't have people running polls and seeing whether there
is interest or support in advance of throwing their hat
into the ring, then it's pointless to talk to you.

As for Dole, he was too old the second time around.
Moreover, as I've said to you previously, Gore's
situation was unique since his supporters have claimed
that he was cheated for years and there was nothing
to prevent him from making another run---except a
lack of interest in his potential constituents.

Which, of course, is the whole point of my discourse.

You can sidestep and play games all you want---but that's
the point.

Where was Bob Dole in 2000? He was the party's choice in 1996...why not stick with your man?

clinton did not start out as first choice in 1992 yet was the liberal nominee.
