Yes, true, it does seem that most people are from "somewhere else" these days. I moved around for quite a few years too, but I'm back in the same general area where I grew up. It's kind of nice to live in a place where you know every hill and dale, and all the short cuts over backroads. Also fun to meet someone for the first time and be able to say, "Are you related to the McNeeley's from over at such-and-such part of the Valley." Seems I don't go anywhere that I don't know some person or other who knows at least some of the people I know.

we didn't take advantage of the lakes and rivers
during our six or so years there unfortunately -
too busy raising children and chickens.
but, i notice you list photography as an interest.
have any photos of your canoeing and hiking trips
to share?

Sure thing. These are a couple of galleries with some shots from trails on the Frontenac Axis part of the Shield north of Kingston. These should probably tweak a few memories of the scenery in this part of the world.

And here's some "history" from the area -- shots from last autumn.

Did you watch tonight's debate? Now I don't know what to think. Rather astounding, but I actually think that Gilles Duceppe got some of the best lines tonight! Damned if he didn't put everyone's feet to the fire more than a few times. Yikes! lol. Sure is shaping up to be an interesting horse race! (o:
