Another trusted authority (the taxi driver who took me to the station) told me that The Strip is a shameless ripoff, that downtown Las Vegas is where the action is and where people actually win money.

As a LV local, I can definitively state that the above is true. I love to visit the Strip, but the slots are cold and the prices are way high...

Oh, and if you snag a cab at McCarren airport, tell the cabbie to take surface streets to the Strip or Downtown. Too many of them take their fares the long way around, south through the tunnel and onto the freeway, to run up the meter.

And let's find a place this time where it's easier to meet and mingle. A private type room with a bar and snack buffet perhaps?? :)

holly, i understand that there are still casinos in DT LV that actually still offer single deck blackjack...

though i don't subscribe, i believe this newsletter has a list
