"Had we gone into Saudi Arabia instead of Iraq" Lefties like to bring this up as if it would have been a good idea and they would have supported it. It is an idiotic idea, and there is no way in hell that the left would have supported this. Saddam was not taken out beccause he was responsible for 9-11. He was taken out because he was a danger to help others do similar (but worse) deeds, and he was in violation of international law and the terms of his surrender. We also thought that it might have a decent chance of becoming free and democratic. Seeing the recently released gov't poll and watching them dance in the streets over the dead bodies of their own countrymen is giving me second thoughts about this however.
