You got that wrong or you are deliberately misleading. NY Times may have got many things wrong, but it is the Newspaper (along with Washington Post, USA Today and the likes) I will trust over any other. All others take their cue from NYT to figure out which is the top story.
They fire reporters who invent stories. It is the reporters who betrayed the trust and also the management did not challenge it's reporters enough - a mistake acknowledged by themselves.
But I clearly know your biases and if your inclination is to follow Fox News (who finds WMD every other day), Drudge Report etc. so be it.
