I don't have a solution, but think this thread will find one.

This may be of interest to Ted [tejek] who has popup problems with 'IE supplied by AOL'. Your observation shows that just using a different browser can make a difference.

[added] Which version of IE? Have you installed all MS critical updates?

Can you elaborate. Are you getting error messages or is your browser just hanging with no response? What operating system and what version internet explorer are you using?
