Unfortunately it appears to be a great deal of reactionism against the authority of the opposing end of the political continuum than anything that is substantially rational. This thread is a great example of what happens when rational sensibility is dismissed in lieu of alliance with or membership in a group that thinks for you. Dissention is not tolerated to the extent that ignorance is prefered to considering opposing views.
