"they've ceased growing, learning and evolving. they're happy with their "truth" and they want to protect it from change and they want everyone to adopt their "truth" so it will be easier for everyone to proceed on the same wave length." Yeah and they (I assume you are speaking about your little group think club) are most successful when they use the ignore button to block any oppositional views from being seen...and definitely encourage other 'like minded' folk to do the same. yup, protect it.
