The GOP senate is running against Kerry too. They will do anything they can to try and embarrass him by rigging votes to be very close so his missing vote makes the difference. If Kerry had shown up, anothe GOP senator would have changed his vote. Don't be naive. If the DEms ran the Senate then you would have a point, but you don't. In fact it just goes to show you how smarmy the GOP is these days, playing around with our system, wars, and everything else for political purposes.
