In fact, Iran was not part of the Ottoman Empire, though the British and Russians both tried to control the country (this continued even after WW2, when Soviet troops occupied northern Iran).

India and Pakistan were not taken over by the British after fall of the Ottoman Empire either. Nor as far as I know, did the British arbitrarily draw the border between an Independent Pakistan and India. Yes, India was a colony of the British - a very important one.

Only Iraq was part of the Ottoman Empire directly before World War One. Iraq was invaded by the British during the First World War, the British advanced and captured Baghdad during the war - Northern Iraq remained in Ottoman hands. The British got "control" of the rest of Iraq when the Amistice was signed.
