Indian nuclear program started way before Pakistan's did. It was more in response to China's program. Indian program was actively aided and supported initially by US, Canada and France.

I don't support nuclear weapons anywhere - period. But now I am seeing reasons why countries itch to go nuclear - no one dares to mess with them including big superpowers. Iran accelerated it's program when it saw US sitting next door.

As far as Pakistan is concerned: I am more concerned about safeguards. Countries like China, India (even Iran) can safeguard their stockpile but Pakistan's arsenal is more prone to falling in wrong hands. Not to forget active proliferation activities it has engaged in and us having condoned it.
