I guess I just think that at some point Canada has to rein in its public spending because at this rate it won't survive. Canada-with all its resources-should be as rich as Norway.

For your information, I have a UK passport, Canadian passport, US green card, Japanese permanent residency (through my wife) and speak, read and write Japanese fluently (I hold the Japanese Ministry of Education's 1-kyu in Japanese language, the highest license a foreigner can hold).

I am not your typical uninformed American doing the 'lets annex Canada man' thing. I would just like to see the home for my friends and family do a lot better. Quebec does not help, they hinder. I am not the only Canadian with this opinion. I wish Quebec would secede and just get on with it. Get the out, remove the leverage. Kind of like my acupuncturist's wife who wants to get divorced and every month he says OK, she tallys up the finances and asks him if they can stay married again. He tells me he's exhausted.

By the way, I hear Newsworld International has been sold to Al Gore to turn into a teen channel. It is unfortunate the CBC has never quite achieved the level of BBC America and Canada and really, outside of Canada, has very little to show for the millions they squander yearly.

All we can hope for is Harper, it's what he doesn't say about his vision that is most fascinating.
