Taiwan's UMC buys equipment from KLA-Tencor, Tokyo Electron

<<TAIPEI, Jun 17, 2004 (AFX-ASIA via COMTEX) -- United Microelectronics Corp (2303.TW), the world's second-largest wafer foundry, said it purchased 52 sets of equipment worth a combined 1.82 bln twd from KLA-Tencor Corp between March 24 and June 16.

It also bought 12 sets of equipment worth a total of 962.96 mln twd from Tokyo Electron Ltd between June 2-16, a company statement said.
