The 3400+ wasn't launched until January of this year. The 3200+ was the highest speed at introduction.

Petz: There is absolutely no evidence of a "binsplit problem" for K8s. 3000+ to 3400+ at intro, only one lower bin added and 3 higher bins added -- 3500+, 3700+ and 3800+.

Look at the *frequencies*. That's what bin splits are about, not semi-random AMD model numbers. AMD has gone from 2.2GHz in the 3200+ to 2.4GHz in the 3800+ with the recent launch.

Not nearly as impressive as the model numbers suggest.

FWIW, I believe the recently launched socket 939 chips have an inflated rating. Another indicator that perhaps AMD isn't quite achieving the frequencies it wants.

However, Intel's problems with Prescott has clearly given AMD a break this time around.
