I'm not as pessimistic as you are, LB. I think that there are currents in Iranian political life that are not as radical as we might imagine and that they have a decent chance for success, particularly as the Mad Mullahs who are a bit on the old side start to die off. Plus, even if Iran has a nuke or two or three, it will be incinerated as a country if it ever attacks the US or Israel. I don't think they'll risk such a thing.

<<I think our Iran situation is that if Bush is re-elected, we will take care of Iran if they won't back off. If Kerry is elected, we won't. If that happens, Israel or NYC/DC will be hit in the next 10 years.

I had coffee today with a friend who just got back from Iraq. He said that Iran is on the back burner because if we have to fight Iran it will be over in hours, not days.

BTW, he also said he was warned not to eat the fish over there because Saddam dumped WNDs in the rivers. Barges full of them before the war. They haven't been able to find what was in the barges because the weapons guys are still busy destroying 100 tons of munitions every day. Day after day after day ...

How will nyc or dc be hit by iran? or do you think the deal with al quaeda iran may have for destabilizing iraq also gives an iranian bomb to al qada a bomb for use in the US so iran wont be retaliated against?
