Ted, First of all, IMO Gore does not take his career as seriously as he should......that's seems fairly apparent.
I think the loss of 2000 really drained him. But that's not what I was talking about.

I was talking about why Gore tried to reinvent himself one too many times during the 2000 campaign. It's all about trying to please everyone, from the environmentalist left to the moderate SUV-driving soccer moms to the conservative heartland of America.

I don't understand........what politician doesn't try to appeal to as many people as possible. What do you think Bush's compassionate conservatism is all about.............he suddenly has a fondness for little ole ladies and dogs?

As for Kerry ... You don't think that level of abuse changes a person?

Yes, I do, but now he's trying to run away from his anti-Vietnam actions while at the same time lifting up his actual service. Guys like you are left trying to cover for him and explaining why he did what he did. Why can't he defend those actions himself? Every time he's faced with questions, he runs back to his military service instead of answering the questions head-on. That to me either demonstrates cowardice (which would be contrary to the courage Kerry displayed while actually in Vietnam) or arrogance (i.e. "How DARE you question my actions! Me, a decorated Vietnam veteran!"). Probably a little bit of both.

All that I've seen is the Bush commercials trying to make Kerry look weak and wishy washy. Whether that's true or not is hard to discern with all the GOP spin.

In that, the GOP has been very successful......one of the few things in the past 4 years. <g>
