The only way you could say that is if you are too young to remember the economic stagnation of the Carter era, with both high unemployment and sky-high inteest rates, neither of which we have now.

And pleae dont tell me the 2.7 unemploment rate of 1999-early 2000 was the norm. That was a bubble-induced condition with 23-yr olds who had little useful experience earning $80k plus options at dotcom co's.
