You forgot to acknowledge that Hispanics were here first in much of what is the US.

False. I did not forget it. The western lands were taken essentially in the Mexican-American war, which to some was a land-grab, but which also had a legitimate basis from the American perspective, however thin it was. It is moot here and that is why I do not mention it. It is also irrelevant because Hispanics are not entering the land on this basis, since I scarcely think they even really know the history.

Human nature being what it is Mr. Pilch, I suspect if your family were starving in Mexico you'd be on the underground bus too. I would be.

I have known hunger before. Real honest-to-goodness hunger and desperation. Never once did I think to steal. Not even once. Starvation is absolutely no excuse to assault others. Perhaps it is useful to create empathy for the plight of other humans, but it gives us no right at all, not a single right, to actually enforce a claim upon the lives of other people.

Like I said, we need a RATIONAL policy on immigration. We are not going to get one from this Administration because their policies are built on fear not RATIONAL thought.

Please. This is just hyper-leftistic trash, Doren. Bush Hate just for the sake of it. We do need a rational immigration policy, but we didn't get one from Clinton, pal. We won't get one from Bush and we would not get one from Kerry. We won't get one from anyone until the paradigm underlying current immigration politics changes for the entire nation.

I'm not too crazy about having a couple of hundred million illiterate Catholics across the border but we need to do some thing to protect our goals to create a better world for everyone.

You sound as if you already know what those goals are. You do not. I do not. No one knows what they are. There is no longer a culture that efficiently informs us of what they are. You leftists have destroyed it with your godlessness, your "multi-culturalism" and other pure horse-hockey. The game is really over. It is just too late. But I find myself holding onto a thin shred of hope, a fool's hope.

I live in East Los Angeles so unlike many of the suburban... refugees? hiders? I have first hand knowledge of who the immigrants are. Mostly hard working, well meaning but poorly educated people.

If they are legal, then fine. If not, then they are infringing upon the rights of others, including your immigrant neighbors who are legitimate.

We need to have an educated electorate so just letting people across willy nilly is not the answer...

Agreed. Current law actually supports what you think needs to be done. The problem is, illegal immigrants are breaking that law! We need better enforcement.

Let Mexico advance the notion of capitalism. Let Mexico better educate its people. Let the Mexican economy grow through free trade and jobs programs so that its people can prosper. Mexico is denying its own citizens the opportunity to improve their standard of living.

Much of the responsibility for its own problems are ignored by Mexican government, and like liberals......Mexico will not own its own problems.
