Here is Colin Powell's quote:

"the only way to avoid the serious consequences that were built into 1441 is for Saddam Hussein and his immediate cohort to leave the country and to allow this matter to be resolved through the peaceful entry of force and not a conflict."

This is fascinating. Our supposed ultimatum to Saddam was really a sham.

The whole thing was a sham and I knew it when it was happening. It makes me sick now to see the fukking mess we're in because of the administration's hubris and mendacity. And to make matter worse, they are not repentant.

<<< ... Colin Powell's statement on March 17 to the effect that "the only way for Iraq to avoid an attack is for Mr. Hussein to leave the country and 'allow this matter to be resolved through the peaceful entry of force.'"

In other words, there is nothing that Iraq can do to avoid invasion and occupation; its only choice is whether or not to surrender ... >>>

The media of course played right along to the Bush Administration's tune.

fair.org;

That's why I say Powell is complicit in this mess. He is not the innocent some people make him out to be.
