If only there were more parallels between the last really good war, and this one. But drawing parallels can be tricky- and this war has very little in common with good old WWII. Though a man who busts budgets and wants to roll up in the Reagan legacy, wouldn't know much about keeping the parallels clean- but I would have thought you would Andrew. Of course maybe you posted that article because you really disagree with what Bush said- if so, Bravo!!!

Interesting that when Bush mentioned the New York Times, the crowd guffawed.

Has the New York Times finally become a laughing stock?

From this little bit of evidence, we have hope.

Andrew, another Rabid Republican Right false dichotomy:

<Yes, we saw a threat, and I remembered the lessons of September the 11th, that
we must take threats seriously.
So I went to the United Nations, and I said, here's a threat. And
unanimously, they said, you're right. Mr. Saddam Hussein, disarm, disclose
and disarm, or face serious consequences. When America speaks, we better mean
what we say. When we say, serious consequences, we mean serious consequences.
Saddam Hussein, once again, defied the free world. I had a choice to make:
to trust the judgment of a madman, or defend America.
Given that choice, I
will defend America every time. (Applause.)

An octopus would have come up with a much better solution.

PS: It's a shame that it took King George II the destruction of 911 to learn the lesson that threats need to be taken seriously. Bill Clinton told him that Al Q was the biggest threat, but George was off to the golf course, "Watch this drive!"
