I think Kerry needs a bold choice as VP, on account of he sucks as a politician. The choice itself needs to send a statement.

Give me a black person, a woman, an asian, a hispanic or even a dwarf. Preferably a black asian female dwarf.

Health Alert: Same day knee replacement

(Chicago) June 10, 2004 - Just before 8:00am one morning orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Richard Berger began a new type of knee replacement operation.

His patient was Dick Conrad, 58, who had severe arthritis in his right knee, "It was bone to bone. I could almost feel it cracking every time I bent it. And, it was just - it was excruciating. And, now the knee rides just like a regular knee without pain."

The artificial knee being used at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago is more flexible than most, but Doctor Berger says what's amazing is how quickly Dick will recover, "Traditional knee replacement, you're in the hospital for four or five days. Here we do it as an outpatient."

The quick recovery is possible, because the incision is half the normal length, and the doctor avoids cutting the muscles and ligaments around the knee, "The challenge for the surgeon is, it's harder to do. It requires special instruments, special training, and it's a much tighter space to work in."

True to Berger's word, Dick was up and walking less than six hours after surgery, "I went up the stairs with virtually no pain and down the stairs with no pain, and I walked back, and it was unbelievable." Seven hours after surgery Dick walked out to his car and headed home.

Patients who have had previous knee surgery on the same knee are not candidates for this procedure.
