Dearest Spirit of Kerry

Are you saying Randy Weaver was a rightwing terrorist?

If so, you are sadly mistaken (but that wouldn't be unusual). Weaver was trying to live a quiet life on a mountaintop in Idaho when BATF agents staked him out on a bogus weapons charge. They killed his kid's dog, which was barking at them, then they shot his kid in the back. Then they staked out the house and ultimately shot Weaver's wife as she stood in the doorway holding her baby.

All the above was done on bogus rules of engagement that allowed the feds to shoot to kill even if the person being shot at did not pose an imminent risk to others.

The entire incident was a travesty. Weaver was eventually acquitted of the charges against him arising out of the incident.

It took place during Clinton's presidency under the supervision of his crack Attorney General, Janet Reno.

And people are upset with John Ashcroft for hanging drapes int he Great Hall to block view of semi-clothed statues of Justice?
