I do not propose we invade countries not associsted with the act as any part of the proposal. Furthermore, I suggest a more neutral policy towards Israel vs Palestine. Remember these points. 1) Bin Laden's biggest gripe was that the US was on sacred arab soil 2) His second biggest gripe was our unending support for Israel 3) Our own CIA trained Bin Laden (obviously quite well) IF we were not propping up US puppets like the Shah, like Hussein (against IRAN), Chile, etc etc etc, and IF we did not support Isreal on every damn thing under the sun, I propse NONE of this would have happened. Our policy should be clear 1) we mind our own business 2) we do not go where we are not wanted 3) someone seeks us out in a bad way we strike back and hard against the parties that did it 4) We take a totally neutral stance towards Israel 5) We prosecute all war criminals including Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld Tell me that simple policy will not produce results. If we EVER ONCE had the nerve to condemn Isreal for ANYTHING in front of the UN, that alone might be enough to put things back on an even keel with Arab states. I believe in International Law, the Geneva Convention, the right to be charged and the right to a speedy trial. I suggest we follow those principles as well, REGARDLESS of whether our opponents do or not. We totally tossed away whatever high moral ground we had (not much really) when we abused Iraqi prisoners. IF and ONLY IF we take the high moral ground will the world support us. Without that support we simply can NOT afford to take on all comers. Mish
