IMO, Preview smokes Acrobat

Here's how to make it the default app:

1. Switch to the Finder

2. Locate any file whose name ends with .pdf.

3. Select the file (click once)

4. Press Command-I to Get Info

5. Reveal the 'Get Info' section of the window.

6. Change the 'Open with:' pop-up menu from Acrobat Reader to Preview

7. Click the 'Change All...' button, and click the 'Continue' button when you are prompted to confirm the change.

as I just learned: select a pdf file, get info, change program to open & then make that default for all pdf
