This belongs to the species of arguments that assert that because we can't tackle all problems, we must tackle none.

I wasn't arguing that at all. You must have me confused with someone else. <g> The point we were discussing was "We had to get rid of Saddam before he bought WMD on the black market thereby giving him the potential..." If dangerous weaponry is the key criterion, then Iran would have to be a priority target in that part of the world. Making doability the key criterion negates your argument that weaponry is key.

How does the mushroom cloud reference imply Iraqi involvement in 9/11?

It doesn't. The mushroom cloud reference was part of the argument for wiping out Iraq's WMD before they nuked Washington, one of the justifications for war, not the 9/11 figment. I was referencing different parts of the sentence I clipped. Sorry for not being clearer.
