Derek, I am not advocating nuking anyone but i wonder what the response of the american people would be after NY was nuked and the US prepared to dispatch forces to iran to overthrow the govt? Everything about the cold war was that there would be at least an equivalent response. What deters the mullahs, if anything, would be the certain knowledge that if NY goes so does Tehran. Otherwise there is little to deter them from using nukes in the first place. Thats how deterrence worked with the soviets and there would have been millions atomized.
