I replaced my MB and microprocessor chip a few months ago. It was a nerve wrecking experience as you do have to push the boards etc to near the limit of their mechanical strength to get them to fit properly. I was in doubt if all of those millions of transistors and wires would still be working after I finally got the MB in place and fitted the new chip and heat sink. Typically the final attachment of the heat sink requires the deft use of a flat bladed screw driver of the right size. The heat sink should have come with some visual diagrams and instructions.

Take your time. Keep some faith in yourself, and we hope to see you back soon.

On top of that, the computer I'm on just gave me an imminent hard drive failure message on boot.

TC, don't ignore this warning. Try and get another Hard Drive right away and copy Old to New. I ignored the warning for almost 6 weeks last year, Paid the price, cause' one morning I didn't get the warning, Kapoot on boot up. Sad~
