Your birth date is just as private to the site as your email address and login information. I'm not able to edit that field out of the existing version of SI and don't know that I would if I could. Just enter a fictitious birthdate if you like. All I'm really concerned with at this point is ensuring that everyone can access the new site or that we can confirm proper ownership of accounts (via email address) for those who are unable to. Your date of birth is completely irrelevant for current needs.
