The best explanation for why we don't hear about them anymore is because that premise isn't true. Oh, it's true alright. Carter stopped development on it when he was Prez, and it was never started up again. The argument against us doing away with Nukes is, "Oh, that would leave us subject to Nuclear blackmail!" I just don't buy the argument. We have so many better ways to retaliate that Nukes are not a good choice anyway. Why kill millions to get at the leaders?
