are you predicting those huge gains? I'm just curious as to what people are thinking. My feeling is, that the strong growth in earnings this time around was achieved largely by cutting salaries. And that is a vicious cycle downward. Its obvious the pundits who don't seem to see any relationship between the well being of the middle class and stock prices are surprised by this sluggish market. It doesn't surprise me. Until companies start hiring en masse (which I doubt is forthcoming, all hiring even for growth industries is offshore), we are just going to flop around like this in the markets. JMO.
