It is very simple. Iraq was involved with helping al Qaeda develop and obtain chemical weapons in the Sudan (according to Richard Clarke). Iraq was offering money to Abu Sayaff (a group strongly linked to all Qaeda - it was founded by bin Laden's brother in law) to kill Americans - a bounty actually. Bombers of the World Trade Center sought and received refuge from American justice in Iraq. This means cooperation with al Qaeda. Iraq was not Directly shown to be involved in either the planning or operation of the 9/11 attack. This is not new news - or disputed (I believe that the 9/11 Comission, has said as much). The fact that some news groups have chosen to misstate the facts, is their problem. President Bush never said Iraq was linked to the 9/11 attacks. He did say that there was evidence linking Iraq with bin Laden and al Qaeda.
