There are tens of millions of Asians who are getting their first taste of prosperity. If SA collapses the world economy will follow. The world will be forced to do something to restore Saudi oil exports.

It's true that Asia (overall) is virtually neck and neck with North America in oil consumption, but I'm not willing to bet on "the World" cooperating on anything, almost no matter how bad it gets.

If however there is ever a worldwide consensus on stabilizing Mideast oil production that would be a welcome death toll for Islamist fundamentalism.

The French at least have nuclear energy, something we have stupidly not continued to work on developing and making safer, but that's work which will have to be done sooner or later as part of the mix of energy sources.
