I do not think the specs are gone.
But with smal specs net 40,000 contracts short that could be better.

I follow grains but only peripherally as an adjunct of the "state of reflation".

I got a PM last week from someone after lamenting I had lost track of one of my old favorites, (T.)POT . He indicated that he was going into sugar for some of the same reasons you have outlined, plus the Chinese have swung to net importers.

Ironically, foodstuffs may prove to be the US's ace in the hole in trying to balance their books in the coming years. Agribusiness seems poised for a few excellent years. Too bad many of the big players are privately held corporations.

I took a close look again at one of my old hopefuls over the weekend, T.SWP.B. I don't know if they'll do well or not. They seem to be a really badly run company. Maybe I'll put them back on the list....
