A common speak from people I find is that "they do not like GWB but they do not like Kerry as well". This is also what you are saying.

I think this is a veiled way of saying that GWB does not have a record to run on all right but that "since Kerry is worse" we are going to vote for GWB. This is a deliberate ploy where you build down expectations of GWB, say Kerry is even worse and let us vote mediocrity in as a result.

This, IMO is very un American and here is the reason why. In the US we give everybody an opportunity if we see some potential in the person seeking that opportunity. At the same time we also take away that opportunity if that person fails to perform. That is the American way.

Bush had his opportunity and by refusing to talk about his accomplishments he has implied that he has none to show. Kerry on the other hand has demonstrated his ability to be flexible on issues to match evolving interest of parties concerned. He has also demonstrated that he does not pander to interest groups such as those of Kuchinich supporters. He has demonstrated his ability to unite rather than to divide by getting all his Democratic Primary opponents together. This is in sharp contrast to Bush wherein there continues to remain an undercurrent of hostility between him and John McCain. And on and on.

So let us not be un-American by quickly moving to brand Kerry as not worthy of being elected a President . And what is even worse is that this campaign to throw mud on Kerry is undertaken in a wimpish way with remarks such as the ones made by you. Sorry if the use of the word has hurt your feelings. But I am at a loss to find another word to characterize it as such.
