What you mention is a function of that, as you say, rather than liberal bias. Same net result, you would say

They are Liberal Arts majors, and share the same socialist outlook on economics as other liberals. So the liberal bias is there. Our Economics departments have made the conversion, pretty well, to Free Enterprise. That's the reason Economic Profs are not as well regarded by the rest of the Liberal Arts Profs as they used to be. You will notice JohnM's distaste for them. It was one of the reasons he did not care for Summers taking over as Prez of Harvard.
