Unless I'm mistaken, @siliconinvestor.com email, like portfolios and charts, is something that didn't require a paid membership to make use of.

None-the-less. I did pay for my own membership, and family memberships. I'm beginning to think I represent a substantial proportion of SI's revenues.

I bought my own membership because of the stimulating information available on SI. But the family memberships were bought because of the need to have an e-mail presence which is not dependant upon job, school, or other transentory situation. Other e-mail solutions had erratic requirements such as a login every 30 days.

My big mistake was to think that SI was a stable forum for it's services.
our pricing structure is such that it would make no sense for anyone to pay our rather steep entry fee just to have web-based email.
I thought I was buying, through the steep pricing structure, a stable set of options. I hoped to provide a predictable e-mail avenue to my family even if they didn't come up with annual fees or login every 30 days which was the alternatives. I might hope that they would take advantage of the investment advice which has helped me. All I could count on was a stable way to keep in touch as they made their own decisions.
