Do you plan any searches which go back a few years?
It would be useful to see who predicted what at various
points in time that are only obvious years later.

Hi Bob,

re: However, there will be many new features (some of them already in existence on Dev) that will only be available to anyone who has purchased a subscription since our acquisition of the site. They'll be made available to Grandfathered members and Lifetime members who purchased their subscriptions before the acquisition for a nominal annual fee.

Are you far enough along in defining the biz model to give us an idea of what nominal is?

here's my 2 cents for what it's worth

I understand you need to make this a viable business venture, a profitable one

and I applaud you for undertaking it, for I have been an SI'er for a long time - I like SI, it is a part of my internet life and I would miss it

I know the ads bring in revenue, important revenue

since I want you to be successful, I wouldn't mind ads in posting screens if:

you don't have to click on an ad to close it to be able to read the post or thread [like damn yahoo, that I never go to anymore]

and the ad took up no more than say about 1/5 of the message window

as for the bells and whistles, go for them all in your development stage - you can figure out price structure later or if you want to keep them all

I know you'll get a lot of heat, for people are resistant to change

but I'm open to it, to keep SI alive, well and profitable

[edit] btw, add 'internet' to the damn spellchecker!
