although the "It's God's/Allah's Will" crowd can get a little screwy with their logic sometimes... :o)

No lie. But we're talking faith, not logic, and faith gives any believer a lot of latitude. I guess it's the reason all these smart-pants liberals are so irreligious but currently so unsuccessful.

What the voters seem to forget is that irreligious liberals are not necessarily immoral. But the Left simply doesn't pound away at this point. Instead, it makes fun of the faithful, a sure way to lose.

Shucks, it's all about marketing. The lefties need to throw in a bit of the good ol' time religion, act like decent human beings instead of decadent Hollywood Clintonista wannabes or Kennedys in the making; watch 'em clean up at the polls.

<"God as a referent is something to whom one turns for authority. He's very powerful. What I observe among liberals is that liberals lack a similar source of authority. We liberals don't have a sense of authority to which we can simply refer without evidence.">

Looney Liberal Left vs Rabid Republican Right; The Theological War.

The RRR has the priestly class who interpret for them, to suit the ideas and purposes of the priestly class. Since the priestly class don't have a hot-line to the supernatural, despite their claims to the contrary; the claims should give pause to those who would take the priestly class at their word "We have special powers to lead the flock to the slaughter, oooops, we mean paradise".

The LLL doesn't have such a referent and has to labour under the democratic, individual process of decyphering natural laws which are the manifestation of the supernatural, if there is such a thing.

So the RRR approach to the supernatural, metaphysical, theological is to seek a wise, powerful, leader figure who knows; a fire and brimstone Hitler figure who will tell them wassup, and maybe even write a book [Bible, Koran, Mein Kampf] for future reference and claim it is the real word, the dinkum oil, no if's, but's, maybe's, apostrophe's in the wrong place or Devil's in the detail's.

Next thing you know, you have a Crusade under way to clear the Infidels from the Promised Land to restore the Glory of God and the Thousand Year Proletariat.

We the Sheeple should seek our own true path to Enlightenment, Utopia and Nirvana. Paradise would be okay too.

Knowing what happens to the average flock of sheep and sheeple who blindly follow the leader, I'll stick with the messy self-determination idea.

Sheeple and sheep herd, cats don't.

PS: Is this leading to the RRR leading a Crusade against the apostate LLL and a bit of nailing to the cross, burning at the stake and general Jihad?

Meanwhile, would our Great and Wonderful God please excommunicate or burn at the stake those Evil-doers who pollute this stream. J'Accuse JLAllen [for example] Praise be for cleaing up the stream again. Do you have an acolyte's club? Have you thought of forming a priestly class ordained with excommunication powers?
