New book examines Bush's habits, quirks

WASHINGTON, June 22 (UPI) -- An American psychiatrist has written a book about
President Bush's habits and quirks, concluding the U.S. president suffers from
untreated alcoholism.
Justin Frank, a clinical professor of psychiatry at George Washington
University in Washington and a Democrat, who has never met the President, has
authored "Bush on the Couch," Britain's Guardian reported Tuesday.
In the book, Frank said the president's inclination to view the world in black-
and-white, good-versus-evil terms, and his inclination to repeat favorite words
under pressure stem from his years as an alcoholic.
Bush has acknowledged he was a heavy drinker from his youth until he was born-
again at age 40.
"Being on the wagon is not the same thing as having alcoholism treated. That
means taking responsibility, and making amends to the people you've damaged,"
Frank said.
Frank's recommendation is for the president to join Alcoholics Anonymous and to
get a low stress job.
