850 theaters is very good for a small indie film, huge in fact. If the film does well it will get more theaters. it may even reach Peoria. The R rating is probably ridiculous as we've already seen dead bodies at Abu Graib on TV.

More on Fahrenheit 9/11 release: Movie is to open in 850 theatres Friday. This compares with (all data from 6/20): Harry Potter - 3805 theatres Dodgeball - 2694 theatres Shrek2 - 3306 theatres Garfield - 3150 theatres All info from: leesmovieinfo.net Gee. Doesn't sound like Moore's mocudrama is getting a terribly wide release.
