The Lagoon is basically a man made lake in the middle of a huge lava field. Terribly rugged and pretty. They use the geothermally heated water and the steam for something - I believe, electricity - and pour the hot water into the field to cool and drain, and this creates the lake. I (sort of) didn't like the concept at first, but I must say - it is addictive. I really didn't want to leave. Something unusually relaxing about the place.

Generally, the country is rugged and pretty, with mountains, deserts, geysers, waterfalls... and the people are very warm and friendly. Things are very expensive. I had to get used to the idea of paying almost $10 for a beer. Such is life. The USD does not go very far in that part of the world.
