Both religions require you to believe in God. The Christian faith started with no Law, then we were given Law, which no man could measure up to, then we were given Jesus as a way to salvation. He is our only way to heaven. I don't know enough about the Koran to discuss it. I think you benefit from studying scripture and following Jesus. I think you learn to temper your responses to things, I think you learn patience and tolerance of others. Many here will scoff at that because of some of the hard liners that make the news. But honestly, we are not here to change people through violence. The great commission is simply to spread the word of salvation through Jesus and explain how he was crucified for our sins, so that we may enter heaven. There is no other way. Don't get me wrong, you cannot say, "Sorry I cuss, get drunk, gamble, lust and whatever" in a prayer ask for forgiveness, then keep doing it. You do have to change, repent is the word, which means stop doing what you are asking forgiveness for. It's not easy. But you can say "Sorry I cuss, get drunk, gamble, lust and whatever, please help me stop. I want to quit, take these from me" and if you are sincere, you will stop, your prayer will be answered. I really can't answer much more than that. I'm relatively new at this. Took 37 years before I decided to believe. Once I did, I was amazed I never did before. Am I fanatical? Nah, heck if you knew me personally, you would not hear me trying to convert people or save them or whatever it is called. If they asked though, yes I would talk with them and direct them to the new testament to read the good news!
