I don't think Gibson made money off Jesus. If Jesus had actually played the role of Himself, it would be a different story.

But Jesus wasn't involved in the production, so what Gibson made money off of was a movie, one that he worked for years to get made.

Would you say that "The Ten Commandments" made money off of Moses?

Umm, have you seen the opulance of the tele-evangelists houses, planes, cars etc?

I'd say making money by preaching is quite the norm. Is it hypocritical? It depends on what they do with it. Joyce Meyer is very forthright with her feelings about her money. She says the Lord rewards those who preach the word. She has no qualms about using the money.

The Lord wants you to be successful and rich. There is nothing wrong with having money. If you are fiscally responsible, reazlize the money is a gift from God, and don't worship the $$ or the stuff you buy with it, money is quite OK.

You cannot serve 2 masters. You will love one and hate the other.
