Nope. Mainly because we are no where near enough to perfect to determine if someone should be forgiven or given peace. We see everything through our own slant and prejudices. We see a killer, a monster, someone so incomprehensibly evil that we think there is no way they could have changed. God sees them differently.

When Fahrenheit 9/11 opens this weekend, tens of thousands of people will leave the movie looking to take action. That's why next Monday night, MoveOn members will host over a thousand house parties, taking our campaign to beat George Bush to a whole new level. We're calling it "Turn Up The Heat." We hope you can attend a party near you -- we want you to help launch this new wave of activity.
At these parties, you'll have a chance to meet other local MoveOn members -- always fun -- and ask Michael Moore questions about his film in an interactive national town meeting. But more importantly, you'll help build a movement that will make a big difference on November 2nd.

Can you join us at a house party on Monday night? To find and sign up for one in your area, just go to:

action.moveon.org

If no one in your neighborhood has signed up yet to host, it's easy to set up a party of your own. All you need to have in order to host is a place which folks can come to, and (in order to participate in the virtual town meeting) either (1) a computer with high-speed internet access and speakers or (2) a speakerphone. We'll provide you with a detailed guide to hosting a party and all of the tools you need to make your party a success. We'll even ask other MoveOn members to help you with snacks, drinks, and clean-up.

To host a "Turn Up the Heat" house party, just sign up now at:

action.moveon.org

Our campaign to make Fahrenheit 9/11 a success has already gotten extensive media coverage. Adam Ruben, MoveOn PAC's Field Director, has been on MSNBC and the Today show to talk about the film. Our involvement has been written about in the New York Times, USA Today, and local and regional papers across the country. And best of all, Move America Forward, the right-wing group that has been pushing theaters to drop the film, has admitted that thus far they don't know of a single theater that has censored the movie. We're winning!

Now we need to channel the movie’s momentum into the activities that will win the election. Sign up to attend a party in your neighborhood now at:

Filmmaker Michael Moore's documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 arrives in U.S. theaters this Friday, after winning the top prize at the Cannes film festival and being shelved by the Disney Co., its original backer. The film, which criticizes President Bush's response to the attacks of Sept. 11, is being released independently. NPR's Bob Mondello has a review...

I think the thing that turned me against the death penalty was one simple fact of life: the state should be trying to save peoples lives, not end them. Our society, as an organizing principal tries to perserve human life, not end it. That's why we have all these safety laws and people who devote their lives to saving others (cops, fireman, doctors, etc.) Why throw all those efforts away by killing another human being, no matter what the reason is? Not to mention the fact that our justice system is prone to all the human frailities, and there have been more than 100 people released from death row since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976. I don't want to bring the whole abortion issue into it, because that's a debate about when life actually begins. But, once people are alive and breathing in this world, the state should be on the side of perserving life, not destroying it, in my opinion.
