"...what we are seeing now as a "resurgent economy" is in fact another freakin' bubble. Bubble boy Greenspan has succeeded in reinflating the stock bubble... and Greenspan has even outdone himself in the bubble department -- this time, he has also created a bond bubble, a mortgage refi bubble, a housing bubble and a consumer debt bubble."

Two points:

1) After a hard crash, you always get a bounce --- even if it's just a 'dead cat bounce'... so, the 50% retracement in the indexes is not unexpected or unusual.

2) With the Fed stage-managing a massive and unprecedented 'liquidity infusion' into the economy... carpet bombing the economy with a $ Trillion plus in fiat money, running the printing presses full-out... a reflation of financial assets (however temporary) is only to be expected.

As Buffett famously said: "If you gave me a Trillion Dollars, I could throw a Hell of a party too!"

But, as you pointed out, reality will eventually assert itself.

My personal guess is that this will be completely obvious by 3rd. to 4th. Q. '05.
