There are certainly parts of the U.S. that resemble a 3rd world country already, and have for years. Inner cities and some parts of the Deep South. All the Bush/Cheney cabal cares about is shaping the world in the interests of capital to maximize profits; that's what the Iraq war is all about. To the super-rich, countries and patriotism no longer matter, and haven't mattered for generations. They have more in common with each other than with the working slobs who populate their countries. And, their policies demonstrate this contempt, as they ingore the plight of their fellow citizens while hob-knobing with wealthy elites around the globe.
