I've seen Barnett's stuff, and I agree with him about some things, though by no means all. That's only to be expected. At least it's a reasonable contribution to a reasonable debate, which you don't see a whole lot of from either side.

We've gotten to a point where a lot of people seem to see righteous anger as evidence of upright honesty, and reasoned argument as a sign of effete elitism. Where's the problem in elitism anyway? What's wrong with learning something about a problem, and thinking about it a bit, and discussing it a bit with other people who have thought about it, before trying to solve it? Might take a little more time - not necessarily a great deal - but if the result is something that works, instead of something that doesn't, isn't it worth it?
