hi clappy-

yes - we've seen orca whales while sailing
in the georgia strait, and one time a little
pilot whale followed in our wake when we
were motoring. he came up along side the boat
and i leaned over to try and touch him but,
of course, couldn't reach.

there is an orphaned orca whale called luna
living off the coast who has become very tame -
its a problem because he could be injured and
at the same time could inadvertently cause
injury to people. here are some sites on him
the second of which has lots of pictures.

seeing them (whales) makes you realize how diverse
and wonderful this old planet is - we really
need to take care.
